Ann-Marie Malby Schoos
Associate professor, MD, PhD, DMSc
Ann-Marie Malby Schoos received her medical degree from the University of Copenhagen in 2008, specialization in pediatrics in 2022, and has been Research Associate Professor since 2022.
Ann-Marie joined the COPSAC research team in 2009, finished her PhD in 2015 entitled: “Allergic Sensitization through Childhood” and her DMSc thesis in 2024 entitled: “Atopic Disease – Mechanisms, Exposures, And Diagnostics“. In 2013-2014 she worked for 1 year during her PhD as a visiting scientist in the lab of Professor Hugh Sampson, Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, USA and in 2022-2023 she worked for 17 months as a visiting Associate Professor at BC Children’s Hospital, Vancouver, BC, Canada with Professor Edmond Chan – both are world renowned for their expertise in food allergy. Today, Ann-Marie is a Research Associate Professor with a clinical research track including half time clinical work at the Pediatric Dept. of Slagelse Hospital, and half time research at COPSAC.
Ann-Marie’s research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of allergic disease inception in order to improve primary prevention of disease, using data from the clinical birth cohorts at COPSAC. Her research areas include: diagnostic tools to interpret allergic sensitization and multiple biomarkers to better understand the mechanisms of atopic diseases.
Ann-Marie has received several prestigious awards for her research: Grethe Stampe’s award for outstanding allergy research in 2017 and 2020, Birgit and Svend Igor Pock-Steen’s award for pediatric allergy research in 2016, and the Fulbright Scholarship for Danish researchers in The United States in 2013. She serves as an editorial member of 2 international journals, Children and Allergies, and she has been a board member of the Danish Society of Allergology from 2016-2022.
Ann-Marie is leading the allergy group at COPSAC and supervises several medical and PhD students.
