Tarun Ahluwalia
MSc, PhD
Tarun Ahluwalia is an experienced molecular biologist who received his PhD. degree titled ”Functional Genomic Approaches to Study the Influence of Genetic Factors on the Development of Diabetic Nephropathy” from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Punjab, India in 2009. He then moved to The Lund University Diabetes Centre, in Malmo, Sweden where he worked on the genetics of complex disorders (diabetes mellitus) involving large scale genomics data generation and analysis (for 2 ½ years). Following this he joined the Novo Nordisk Foundation based Centre for basic metabolic research (University of Copenhagen) where he has gained expertise in genetic epidemiology working in collaboration with leading genomic consortia using bioinformatic methods to assess disease-gene associations and gene-environment interactions.
He is now also part of the COPSAC team as a senior researcher in genomics and bioinformatics.
