Mathis Hjort Hjelmsø

Mathis holds a master degree in microbiology from the University of Copenhagen (2013) and a Ph.D. in virology from the Technological University of Denmark (2017). Mathis’s studies have been focused on using molecular techniques to determine the function and diversity of bacterial and viral societies.
At COPSAC Mathis works with studying the importance of the human microbiome in early life in relation to the later development of asthma and other diseases. In addition, Mathis focuses on the specific environmental factors affecting the gut and airway microbiome in early life.
