Kaare Tranæs
Kaare received his master’s degree in human biology, establishing an experimental animal model for premature infants. This work aimed to study preventative therapies for necrotizing enterocolitis in infants. He then worked as a trial manager for the SIMBA study, a Horizon 2020 project investigating the effects of potential prebiotics on metabolic syndrome.
As a PhD student at COPSAC, Kaare is studying gut virome in health and disease. He also manages the clinical trial RESTOREGUT, which aims to prevent childhood asthma by restoring microbiome perturbations in infants born by cesarean section.
He is a member of the Early Career Team of the Copenhagen Gut Microbiome Hub, which promotes regional and international cross-disciplinary collaboration, attracts talents and research investments, and stimulates gut microbiome training and teaching activities.
