David received his degree as a medical doctor from Queen’s University of Belfast in 2015 and worked as a doctor for 2 years in the UK. David moved to Denmark in September 2017 to pursue a Master’s in Global Health at Copenhagen University. He completed his Master’s project at COPSAC with Jakob Stokholm in 2019, titled “The Infant Gut Microbiota and Risk of Enteric Disease.”
David began his PhD position at COPSAC in 2020, where his research focused on childhood obesity, before focusing his PhD work on “The Impact of Maternal Dietary Patterns during Pregnancy on Child Health and Development.” He finished his clinical PhD in December 2023 and is currently engaged in a full-time research position, where David works with COPSAC analysis on behalf of the “Preventing obesity through biologically and behaviorally tailored interventions for you” BETTER4U Consortium
David’s areas of expertise include maternal nutrition and cardiometabolic health. His research is driven by a keen interest in modifiable determinants of health, aiming to better understand and improve health outcomes.
