Casper Sahl Poulsen
Msc, PhD
Casper received his Msc in parasitology from Copenhagen University (2013) and afterwards worked in a clinical diagnostic lab, where he first got immersed into the microbiome field. He received his PhD from the Technical University of Denmark (2019) with the thesis “The effect of sample processing on microbiomes using metagenomics characterization”. Casper did a postdoc at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, University of Copenhagen, where he was involved in a number of research projects, seeking to understand the pathogenesis of lifestyle related liver diseases by focusing on the interplay between genetics, metabolism, the gut- and saliva microbiome, and immunology.
At COPSAC Casper is a postdoc working in the microbiome group, where he studies the role of the skin microbiome in atopic dermatitis and other autoimmune- and inflammatory diseases, in childhood, as part of the European consortia BIOMAP.
